Accessible Public Administration

During the implementation period of the Monitoring Freedom of Association Project, we will advocate for accessible public administration. In this sense, the performance of public institutions in terms of existing structures and mechanisms for CSO participation will be monitored and relevant developments will be shared with civil society organizations.

While the legal environment creates the conditions for an enabling environment for citizen participation, the institutional mechanisms are crucial for the interpretation and implementation of legislation.

Under this activity, designed as a continuation of the efforts to strengthen cooperation between public institutions and civil society that we implemented during the previous period, we will regularly monitor the participation mechanisms of public institutions and exchange views with civil society organizations on developments in this area.

In this track, we will specifically address issues such as harmonization of citizen participation mechanisms at the national level with international standards, regulations on civil society participation in decision-making, participation of women and youth, and participation in environmental decision-making.

In this context, STGM will publish two reports entitled “Public Funds and Suggestions for Civil Society in Türkiye” and “EU Support to Civil Society Organizations in Türkiye: Evaluation and Suggestions”, while TUSEV focuses on civil society participation and meaningful cooperation in decision-making processes. TUSEV will produce two case studies on the use of different instruments, methods and mechanisms.

Also in this title, we will organize regular meetings and seminars on topics related to the civil society agenda with the participation of  public institutions. We will conduct study visits abroad to examine examples of good practice in European Union countries.
