Capacity Building for Stronger and Effective Participation
We will participate in major global civil society events and support the presence of CSOs in these platforms. We will conduct field research to understand public perceptions of civil society in Türkiye and organize an International Conference on Freedom of Association to raise awareness about this fundamental right.
We will closely monitor the civil society–related agendas of the EU, UN, Council of Europe, OECD, and international CSO networks, and prepare information notes to keep stakeholders informed about key actions and publications of these institutions. We will also translate significant documents into Turkish (reports, decisions, declarations, principles, codes of practice, action plans, treaties, etc.). In addition, we will organize at least two webinars for CSOs and public sector representatives to provide information on these documents and international standards.
Due to the increasing violations of CSOs’ freedom of association in Türkiye, we will provide active legal support to organizations facing such violations. In this context:
- We will offer preparatory support to CSOs before audit processes and provide legal consultancy during audits.
- We will provide legal assistance for appeals against fines and for mitigating sanctions.
- We will monitor association closure cases, lawsuits filed against association executives, and administrative cases, offering legal guidance throughout these processes.
The Lawyers’ Network, established in the previous period to strengthen lawyers’ capacity for monitoring and advocating for civic space, will continue its work. Through online and in-person meetings, the project will enhance cooperation among network members, support legal monitoring activities, and deliver capacity development programs for early-career lawyers.
