As part of the three-year project, the state of freedom of association in Türkiye will be monitored systematically. Research will be conducted on civil society organizations (CSOs) in Türkiye, the right to participation, public perceptions of CSOs, and human resources in the civil society sector.
Monitoring the Enabling Environment for Civil Society
Within the scope of monitoring activities, STGM will prepare the Türkiye Civil Society Organizations Report to track data related to freedom of association and the right to participation. STGM will also publish the Public Perception of CSOs Report to measure public attitudes toward civil society.
TÜSEV, on the other hand, will address legal guarantees, financial sustainability, and public–CSO relations in its Enabling Environment for Civil Society Monitoring Matrix – Türkiye Reports. In the new period, a study will also be conducted on human resources in CSOs. In this context, TÜSEV will organize a workshop with the participation of human resources professionals, trade union representatives, and academics to determine sampling and data collection methods; carry out field research; prepare two case studies focusing on volunteering and paid employment; and publish all findings in the Human Resources Report.
Throughout the implementation of the Monitoring Freedom of Association Project, in-depth monitoring activities will be conducted. To examine the key challenges faced by CSOs, focus group discussions and individual interviews will be held on topics such as fundraising, access to financing, audits, human resources, and tax regulations. Additionally, consultation meetings will be organized in cities outside İstanbul and Ankara to exchange views with local CSOs and collect local experiences.
